Planning for 2012

December 15, 2011
It’s December and the 2011 race season is over.  Now it’s back to the drawing board to plan out my race schedule for next year.  In an effort to stick to my training I thought I should have a big goal.  Knowing people with HHT, running to raise money for the HHT Foundation seemed like a great idea.  So in the spirit of New Year’s resolutions, I’m going to resolve to race 100 miles in 2012.  Not an ultra, but a total of 100 miles starting in January and ending in December.
The first race added to the list was the Marine Corps Marathon, quickly followed by the Unite Half Marathon and the Blue and Gray Half Marathon.  Half an hour of planning later and I came up with the following list:
Sweethearts 4ever 4 Mile – February 12, 2012 (4 miles)
Tune Up Tri – March 25, 2012 (1.4 miles)

J. Brian’s Tap Room 15k – March 31, 2012 (9.3 miles)
Unite Half Marathon – April 22, 2012 (13.1 miles)

Festival of the Feet 10k – April 28, 2012 (6.2 miles)
Kinetic Sprint – May 13, 2012 (3.1 miles)
Run Amuck – June 16, 2012 (3.5 miles)

Heritage Festival 5 Mile – July 4, 2012 (5 miles)
Colonial Beach Triathlon Olympic – July 15, 2012 (6.2 miles)
Berkeley Heights 5k – September 16, 2012 (3.1 miles)
Marine Corps Marathon – October 28, 2012 (26.2 miles)
Turkey Trot 5k – November 29, 2012 (3.1 miles)
Blue & Gray Half Marathon – December 9, 2012 (13.1 miles)

Total Distance:  99.4 miles  (including the run section of the triathlons)

Remaining:  0.6 miles

I’m still a little short, but I’m hoping the Tri-Cities Road Runners will host the HHT Awareness 10K again.  If not, I’ll add another race.

Now on to the next step … TRAINING!!!!
